Bruce McBroom

Born in 1939, Bruce McBroom is a graduate of the Photography Department at the Los Angeles Trade Tech College. Early in his career, he worked as an apprentice to Sid Avery in Hollywood. He also served as a photographer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

As a freelance music photographer, he covered the early rock and roll scene. In the 1960s he photographed The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Doors, to name just a few.

Throughout his career he has also worked for several major film studios. His many film projects include The Godfather II, 10, E.T., 48 Hours, Twins, The Hunt for Red October, City Slickers, In the Line of Fire and Coming to America.

His most most famous work is, and will most likely always remain, the iconic shot of Farrah Fawcett in a red swimsuit — still the biggest selling poster of all time.
