Stephen Paley

Stephen Paley is primarily a photographer, but has also worked as a radio and television producer and a music executive.

Stephen’s photos have appeared in Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Vanity Fair and The New York Times. He shot album covers for Aretha Franklin, Cher, Cream Laura Nyro, the Allman Brothers, and Sly & the Family Stone, among many others.

As the Director of Talent Acquisition for Epic Records from 1970 to 1975, he signed or worked with Sly & the Family Stone, Jeff Beck, Rupert Holmes and Looking Glass.

Stephen has also produced three-hour radio programs on the opera singer Maria Callas, composer-arranger Nelson Riddle and David Raksin, and a three-hour history of Atlantic Records. 

As head of music for Orion Pictures and The Ladd Company from 1979 to 1984, Stephen supervised the music for Caddyshack, Blade Runner, The Right Stuff and Arthur. Stephen’s television work includes a documentary about Stephen Sondheim for CBS. He was also one of the first segment producers for the ABC News television magazine 20/20.
