Born in Houston, Texas, Dave Mead spent most of his childhood cheering on his beloved Astros and Oilers and attending countless Supercross Events and Demolition Derbies.
In high school, Dave’s interest in the creative arts grew. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin where he studied advertising and gained some invaluable life experience.
Upon graduating from UT, Dave started his career in advertising with McCann-Erickson Worldwide. Based in his native Houston, Dave then underwent a year of intensive international advertising training, whereupon, in Dave’s own words, he “could route paperwork and operate the (global) coffee pot.”
Having learned all he needed to know, Dave headed back to Austin where he began a job with GSD&M. He spent a decade producing TV commercials for the company and “being surrounded by great advertising,” which eventually led him to the world of photography.
A photographer with a primary focus on the weird and unusual, Dave shoots advertising and editorial content for a host of esteemed clients and publications, including Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated and The Wall Street Journal.
