Sherry Rayn Barnett
Sherry Rayn Barnett is a widely published U.S. music photographer, specializing in the capture of live performance. Her archives span more than 35 years years of music photography, essentially documenting a "who's who" of pop music.
She began her career in New York City shooting for the underground press, focusing on the folk and rock musicians of the early 70’s. Her work has been seen in countless music publications including Rolling Stone, Circus, Creem and Crawdaddy. Her private clients have include Martin Guitars, Sony, Verve/Polygram and Warner Bros. Records.
Artists as diverse as Nina Simone, Charlie Haden, Etta James and Mary Chapin Carpenter have used her work for promotion as well as records, CD releases, documentaries and books.
She has photographed hundreds of performers including rock legends such as Janis Joplin, noted artists in folk, jazz, blues and country, and classic singer songwriters. Sherry is currently located in the Los Angeles area, still shooting the artists who have contributed so significantly to contemporary pop culture.
